The Kogi State, Nigeria, has recorded two of its first Coronavirus cases.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the suspected Coronavirus (COVID-19) case as positive in a statement released on its Twitter account on Wednesday evening, May 27.
It was gathered that the first two cases of Coronavirus in Kogi brings the number of cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to eight thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three (8733) on children’s day from the eight thousand, three hundred and forty-four (8344) on Tuesday evening, May 26.
However, Saka Haruna Audi, Kogi state health commissioner has laid opposite claims to the matter.
“Kogi State till this very moment is Covid-19 free. We have developed full testing capacity and have conducted hundreds of tests so far which have come back negative,โ he said.
โWe have also continued to insist that we will not be a party to any fictitious COVID-19 claims which is why we do not recognise any COVID-19 test conducted by any Kogite outside the boundaries of the State except those initiated by us,”ย Audu said.
