Former United States men’s National Soccer Team has stated his belief that US President Donald Trump is “one of the worst people on the planet” as unrest continues to rage in the country after the death of George Floyd, an African-American who was murdered as the result of police cruelty.
Protesters from different races, tribes, and colors have taken to the street to express their feelings, with trump responding by threatening military actions if the protests lead to violence.
To be sincere, many of the country’s public assets have been destroyed, cars set on fire and widespread looting, and Boyd believe the president himself has played a big part in fueling the flames of public disorder.
“I am sad,” Boyd, whose father was a black American, told T-Online. “Donald Trump is one of the worst people on the planet. He’s driving his country part and making things worse in the United States. He continued and told T-Online I love the U.S, but dislike what Trump has made of the country.”
He was questioned on what he would say to the President if he was to meet him in person, Boyd then replied: “Trump, aren’t you ashamed? But Trump is so egotistical that he would not even be moved by that.”
Although, Boyd condemned vandalism and violence towards police officers. He said “of course no cars should be set on fire or police officers attacked, most police officers have families and are great men of integrity, but we have to be frank: what other solution is there?
“The protests have to be loud, it has to pop, cos enough is enough. African American have to start up to the constant injustice. Racism is as well a problem in Germany, but it has a completely different look in the United States. Germany continues to be a stable country.”
The coronavirus crisis is often credited as the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of the protests, but Boyd believes that Germany’s leadership has handled the pandemic in such a way that the faith of the citizens in politics has grown rather than diminished.
