John Obi Mikel has returned for a third spell in English football by signing a one-year deal with Stoke.
He (John Mikel Obi) arrived in Stoke on Monday to complete his medical and signed a one-year deal.
Stoke boss Michael O’Neill said: “We’re delighted to bring John to the Club. His playing career speaks for itself and underlines his caliber as a player.
“I was really impressed with him when we met for the first time and he outlined what he wants from the next phase of his career.
“We spent four hours talking and he made it clear he wants to get back into the Premier League and finish his career there and hopefully he can do that with Stoke City.”
The former Chelsea midfielder, who won eight major honours during his 11-year spell at Stamford Bridge, is the Championship club’s fourth signing since the end of the 2019-20 season.
Since leaving Stamford Bridge, Mikel has featured for Tianjin TEDA, a Chinese side, Middlesbrough, and recently, the Turkish side, Trabzonspor.
