The Nigeria Center for Disease Control has taken to its Twitter account to debunk a news article published by a website(made anonymous through the post) that it has spent a sum of N1 billion on SMS sent out to Nigeria, claiming it had help from various network providers in Nigeria
Though Nigerians of recent have come to complain about the messages, terming it as spam and calling on NCDC to stop the act
The tweet goes:
“The headline claiming that NCDC has spent N1 billion on SMS to Nigerians is FALSE
While communication through SMS is a key part of our #COVID19 response strategy, this has been largely provided as in-kind support by @AirtelNigeria@MTNNG@GloWorld“
