FG has cautioned Nigerians against romance with Covid-19 disease
– Boss Mustapha, PTF chairman, rang the warning alarm amid spike in daily cases
– Mustapha also mulled over another lockdown as efforts against pandemic daily get punctured
The Federal Government yesterday condemned the serial violations of COVID-19 safety protocols by politicians preparing for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states, saying this was the time to declare a lockdown.
Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha, stated this Thursday in Abuja during the daily briefing of the Task Force.
He said if he had his way, he would declare another round of lockdown on the country, urging politicians to devise ingenuous ways of reaching the electorate without breaching physical distancing measures and the rule on wearing facemask.
Mustapha said Nigerians are too much “romancing” with the pandemic since the relaxation of lockdown allowing businesses to come back to life.
According to him, efforts of the government towards the pandemic are being sabotaged by Nigerians and this has led to massive community transmission.
Mustapha warned against Nigerians’ care-free attitude and called on everyone to take responsibility by following the guidelines contained in phase two of the lockdown.

โI saw a real romance with COVID-19today. People behaving as if the matter (virus) is over. It is a very serious issue and my appeal to Nigerians listening is that; let us take this thing (virus),” Mustapha warned.
