Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid’s La Liga encounter ended 2-1 in favor of Los Blancos

Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema scored the two goals for Real Madrid Real Madrid on Sunday night, June 21, climbed to the top of the Spanish La Liga table after beating Real Sociedad 2-1 in which Frenchman Karim Benzema scored the winner.
Going into the match, Real Madrid knew they had the advantage to top the Spanish La Liga standings with a win after Barcelona failed to beat Sevilla in their own game.
Zidane and his wards however did themselves lot of good by getting the victory which now put Barcelona on serious pressure as they are occupying second position.
The hosts actually had the first chance to score in the 4th minute when Nacho Monreal directed a long pass to Cristian Portu who failed to beat goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
First half ended goalless between these two teams as they failed to find the back of the net. Strong defender Sergio Ramos scored the first goal for Real Madrid in the 50th minute via a penalty after Vinicius Junior was brought down by Diego Llorente in which the referee had no choice than to give penalty.
Sociedad fired back in the 68th minute through Adnan Januzaj, but the goal was ruled as offside after the referee consulted the VAR.
Los Blancos netted their second goal in the 70th minute through Karim Benzema who got an assist from Federico Valverde.

Mikel Merino gave the hosts some hope in the 83rd minute when he scored after an assist from Robert Lopez, but they were unable to get another goal as the tie ended 2-1 in favor of Real Madrid.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Sevilla vs Barcelona ended in a 0-0 scoreline as La Liga champions drop two vital points leaving the title race with Real Madrid wide open.
The match produced many scoring chances but none of the sides would make them count in the entertaining encounter played at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.
