A.T Marstein blog reports that as of yesterday, the University of Ilorin, Unilorin ASUU would also join in on the strike immediately it commences.
A meeting was held yesterday in the university based on some issue, as confirmed by our reliable source. Some of the Academic staff, therefore, threatened that they will enact the strike immediately the Federal Government fails to pay their salaries on or before the 31st of January
If you remember, based on the Integrated Personal Payroll Institution System (IPPIS), the Academic Staff Union of the University expressed great anger over the recent directive by the office of the Accountant general of the Federation to stop the January salary of lecturers who failed to enroll on the IPPIS
Speaking with the daily trust of the phone, ASUU President Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi said
โThis circular is highly provocative, we condemn it, we reject it. It appears some individuals are trying to sabotage the process and they do not want us to present our alternatives to IPPIS and we believe what we are doing is in the best interest of the Nigerian University systemโ
However, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has begun rallying its members ahead of the planned strike action across the country.
