The thing is, we all cannot go a day in this modern era without getting a certain form of news even if it is not willingly. When people speak, they deliver the news. Older people tend to listen to the news because there werenโt as many sources for news outlets before the dawn of the internet age. Since information is power, they would have to go miles to listen to radios, get a learned person to read the newspaper to them. They had to work for it which made it valuable. My dad had a news magazine on sports that was published in 1986 up until 2019. 33 years and then he gave it to me. I lost it in just 3 months. Wonderful right! It was a good read and the information was accurate as of them. The price was #3 and that was a sum of money then. He said they release it once in a month and 12 times a year which means, all the news for that particular month would be collated throughout the days of each month and printed once. If that isnโt limited access to information, then what is?
Why you donโt take the news seriously
Itโs simple. You have it at your doorstep and literally in your hands. According to some psychologists, we tend to not value information, materials, and jobs that are visible to us. Just because we have them, In fact, this is a well-known ideology. We donโt value what we have until it is gone or we have to work for it. As a youth, information gets to you through social media outlets like WhatsApp and Twitter. But you rather enjoy funny memes and stickers, which arenโt actually bad but needful info, are passing by your very eyes and you are caught just laughing. Iโm not judging, I did so too but not anymore. Some people donโt like listening to the radio or watching the news on TV, terming it as boring but you can still get access to them on the aforementioned social media outlets in a simple, short and smart way.
